Frenectomy is the procedure of releasing the soft tissue (frenum) under the tongue or upper lip to allow for better range of motion. Babies may be born with conditions like tongue-tie (ankloglossia) and/or a lip-tie causing restrictions in mouth movements. Babies with these conditions may experience difficulty breastfeeding, and children may have other health problems like dental decay or spacing, speech and breathing difficulties, and affect eating habits. These problems can be often corrected with a simple procedure done with our soft tissue laser.
